Online Meter and Controller Installation

Plan sensor location, flow, cable routing, calibration access, alarms and dosing control for online water monitoring.

Practical guidance

Install the sensor where the sample is representative and remains continuously wetted. Avoid dead zones, air pockets, solids impact and locations that cannot be isolated for maintenance. Provide suitable flow, pressure and temperature. Separate signal cables from power cables, plan calibration access, configure alarms conservatively and verify dosing interlocks before automatic control.

Recommended routine

  1. Review the product manual and required standards.
  2. Inspect the instrument, cables and sensor condition.
  3. Calibrate at suitable points using fresh standards.
  4. Rinse and condition the sensor before measuring.
  5. Allow the reading to stabilise without contaminating the sample.
  6. Record the result together with temperature and calibration status.
  7. Clean and store the sensor correctly after use.

Frequently asked questions

How often should an instrument be calibrated?

Calibration frequency depends on sensor stability, application risk, sample type and quality procedure. Critical measurements may require calibration before each batch or shift.

Can the same sensor be used for every sample?

No. Sensor material, range, temperature and chemical compatibility must match the sample and application.

When should a reading be confirmed?

Confirm readings that are unexpected, safety-critical, near a specification limit or inconsistent with process conditions.
